€200m for Cork harbour initiative

Cork Harbour is poised for its most significant development in decades, with up to €200m set to flow into projects within one square kilometre around Ringaskiddy, according to Marine Minister Simon Coveney.

The investments include the €40m set aside for the long-awaited Irish ISPAT/ Haulbowline Island clean- up of contaminated matter.

Up to 4,000 jobs are to be created, linked to the Irish Marine Energy Research campus, National Maritime College and Naval base.
