Move to clear dangerous trees in Killarney

Moves are under way to cut back dangerous trees along a 1km stretch of one of the country’s busiest tourist routes. A number of fatal accidents involving trees have occurred on the Ring of Kerry road just outside Killarney and recent storms have made trees unstable, it has been claimed.

Killarney Town Council was told the land on which the trees are standing is owned by Fáilte Ireland and the council is asking the company to deal with the problem.

Town clerk Michael O’Leary said they had already been in contact with Fáilte Ireland which had engaged a specialist to deal with the issue.
