Action on land search settled

A builder’s High Court action against a firm of law searchers over work it did on checking the background of land which was being sold for €6m has been settled.

A subsidiary of the Dwyer Nolan building firm was sued by retired airline pilot Eric Hopkins, former owner of the land at Newcastle, Co Wicklow, over alleged failure to inform him before purchase that the property had been the subject of planning enforcement notices. The subsidiary, Comis Construction, also sued Rochford Brady Legal Services, claiming it had not done its job properly when it did planning searches.
