Teenager dies as van hits tree
Initial speculation that the crash involving Adam O’Donnell, from Fethard in Co Tipperary, was weather -related was later discounted by gardaí.
The crash happened at about 8.30am on a straight stretch of the Killenaule road, 3km from Fethard.
No other vehicle was involved and the victim was the sole occupant of his 1999 Peugeot van.
“There’s no obvious cause and there was nothing else involved,” a garda involved in the investigation said.
“I don’t think it’s connected to the weather.”
Mr O’Donnell completed his Leaving Cert last June and had just started an apprenticeship in Urlingford.
Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 6177640.
