Hospital’s car parking fees are part of ‘core funding’

Money raised through car parking charges at Kerry General Hospital, Tralee, is now part of the hospital’s “core funding”, according to the HSE.

Introduced controversially, paid-for parking has generated more than €2.5m over the past four years.

Some local councillors have since been calling for the abolition of the charges — in certain circumstances — or reductions in them.
