Cousins die within weeks of each other

Two Limerick communities are in mourning after two “sports mad” cousins died tragically within weeks of each other.

Cousins die within weeks of each other

The body of bartender Damien ‘Damo’ Scanlon, who died in a tragic, freak accident in Washington last week, will be returned to his home town of Knockaderry today for burial tomorrow.

Mr Scanlon, 30, fractured his skull after slipping on ice in freezing conditions in the early hours of Jan 17. He had just finished his shift at O’Sullivan’s Irish Bar in Herndon, Fairfax County, Virginia, in the Washington DC metropolitan area. It is the second tragedy to hit the family in less than a month.
