Banned Film Festival for West Cork

If Fr Ted was still around, he would be readying his placards. Clonakilty in West Cork will become a den of celluloid iniquity next month when it hosts Ireland’s first ‘Banned’ Film Festival.

The Clonakilty Film Club has organised a programme of films to be shown in the town’s Park Cinema that have, at one time or another, fallen victim to the censor’s chop.

While some notorious films such as Natural Born Killers will be screened, other movies that form part of the five-day festival highlight how censorious Ireland was in times past.
