Taxpayer-funded charities will be ordered to reveal their full salary details and where the money comes from as part of a fresh probe into the sector.

The cross-party Oireachtas health committee announced the move during its latest meeting yesterday — opening a second front for questions about the under-fire area.

In another day of drama, group chairman Jerry Buttimer confirmed hundreds of charity groups, which collectively receive almost €800m a year from the State, will be ordered to come clean about their pay packets. And despite concerns that some will refuse to comply — a position taken by Rehab over its CEO Angela Kerins’s salary — Mr Buttimer said no one will be allowed to “stonewall” on the issue.
