Ronan O'Gara reg plate up for grabs at testimonial event

Munster fans would argue that a new number plate unveiled by Ronan O’Gara and due for auction next month is missing a crucial word.

The plate reads “NO 10 ROG”, but in the southern province many might feel it should have the word “like” sandwiched between the number and his initials.

The plate will be auctioned at the former Munster hero’s testimonial dinner in London on Feb 20.

The money raised will go to the Ireland Fund of Great Britain, the British-based charity which supports Irish in need.

The plate was donated for the event by Seamus and Ann O’Grady, owners of O’Grady’s Irish bar in Illford in north London.

The testimonial dinner, which is to be compered by television star Dermot O’Leary, is expected to attract, not just stars of the rugby world including Brian O’Driscoll, but also the wider sporting fraternity.

According the organisers: “The event will include a drinks reception, banquet with fine wines, after-dinner speech from [English] rugby giant Martin Bayfield, Q&A’s with Six Nations legends and a live performance from Michael Flatley.”
