Man jailed after incident over Facebook comments

Anger over Facebook comments prompted a man to put on a balaclava and carry a knife to the home of a neighbour he blamed for putting the remarks on the social network.

Inspector Gary McPolin said the young woman at Grangewood Court, Douglas, Cork, heard banging on her door at 9.30pm. She opened the door to see a hooded man wearing a balaclava standing on her doorstep.

At that stage, she did not see a knife but could see that he had his hand inside the pocket of his hoodie and appeared to be holding something.
