The infamous “hole” along Strand Rd, where a weakness in the sea wall and the adjoining road is believed to have been undermined by the power of the waves over the weekend, is now being filled in by council workers and contractors, with cement being poured in an bid to stabilise the road.

Meanwhile, diggers have been removing sand washed in by the sea from the promenade and its surrounds.
