The road leading from the Coast Guard rescue centre to the pier at Doolin was ripped apart, with boulders the size of cars being tossed onto the roadway.

Slabs of tarmacadam measuring 15sq m were lifted from the surface, making the area inaccessible to the Coast Guard if they need to launch their boats.

A massive four-tonne boulder was tossed 30m and landed in the middle of the turning area at the entrance to the pier. The car park was completely covered in hundreds of stones and boulders.
