Man gets 6 years for rape of woman

A Cork man has been jailed for six years for raping a mother of two while she slept in the family home.

Daniel Heaphy, aged 23, of Kilmore Road, Knocknaheeny, Cork City, was found guilty after a trial at the Central Criminal Court of raping the woman on May 19, 2011. He had denied the charge.

Yesterday, Mr Justice Barry White imposed a seven and a half year sentence.
