Friday is the most dangerous day on roads, figures show

Friday was the most dangerous day on Irish roads last year — but Sunday accidents caused more serious injuries.

A breakdown of the €157m motor liability awards paid out by the Injuries Board last year shows most motor accidents resulting in compensation payouts occurred in November, while May was the safest month.

The analysis also shows Donegal had the most fatal motor accident compensation claims, at 11, followed closely by Co Cork, with 10. It also showed a 10% reduction in the number of fatal claims to 104.
