Man held in custody for robbery attempt

A man who was charged in connection with an attempted raid on a filling station in north Cork has been remanded in custody for a week.

Jason O’Brien, aged 23, with an address at 7 Hillview Drive, Abbeyfeale, Co Limerick, was before Mallow District Court yesterday charged with attempted robbery at the Applegreen service station at the Spa Square, Mallow, Co Cork, on Tuesday.

A lone masked raider entered the premises at around 8.10pm and threatened staff with what appeared to be a handgun.
