Concern as child, Jan Rehman and mother go missing
Jan Rehman, 4, has not been seen by neighbours since Wednesday.
The boy has brown hair and brown eyes. He is 3ft tall and weighs approximately two stone (28lb).
His nationality is Polish, but he has been living on Stephen’s St on the south side of Cork City centre with his mother, who is also from Poland.
She is 40 years of age, is 5ft6in and is said to be of slim build with mousey brown hair.
The HSE had applied to the district court to have certain reporting restrictions lifted to allow details about the child to be put into the public domain.
The boy had been due to be taken into care by HSE, but he was not surrendered and has not been at his home address since.
The HSE asked the court to lift the strict in camera restrictions for childcare cases to allow the gardaí to make a public appeal in order to help track him down.
This was because there were concerns for Jan’s welfare.
Seaports and airports have been put on notice.
However, importantly, an amber alert has not been issued.
Amber alerts are declared when there is belief that a child has been abducted and there is a serious or immediate risk to the safety of the child.
It is not believed any third party is involved.
However, gardaí have asked for anybody who sees Jan or his mother to contact Anglesea St Garda Station on 021 4522000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
