Woman injured in second Cork hit-and-run
Gardaí in Cobh are investigating an incident in which a 52-year-old woman who was out walking yesterday was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop.
The incident took place at around 8.30am at Ballynoe Hill, close to its junction with Tay Rd.
On Thursday, a Frenchman in his 20s was killed in a collision with a white van that failed to stop, on George’s Quay in the city centre.
The county’s latest hit-and-run victim was taken to Cork University Hospital, where her condition is described as serious.
The road where the incident took place was temporarily closed for a forensic collision examination. Anyone on that road between 8am and 8.45am is asked to contact gardaí in Cobh on 021 4908530, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
The man killed in Cork city last week was Gabriel Jean Lege, 25, from Olonne-sur-Mer in western France. Gardaí are examining CCTV footage and anyone who may have information is asked to contact Anglesea St Garda Station on 021 4522 000.
