Murray to tell listeners about illness
John Murray, 49, who hosts the morning John Murray Show, took leave from the programme in April. He told fans he expected to be back before the end of May. However, it took longer than expected for the former deputy government press secretary to return to full health. His slot was filled by Miriam O’Callaghan, Kathryn Thomas, and Neil Delamere to a lesser degree.
RTÉ said the public response to John’s absence had been “phenomenal”, with cards and emails pouring in.
Meanwhile, Miriam O’Callaghan is starting a live show from 10am to 11am on Sundays on Radio One. It’s believed it will follow the John Murray Show blueprint as RTÉ bosses were pleased she was able to grow listener- ship during her tenure.
Her Miriam Meets pre- recorded Sunday morning show was replaced in recent months by Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin’s Aoibhinn and Company. The show follows the same two-person interview format as Miriam Meets.
