Peaches takes a leaf out of her parents’ book

Former wild child Peaches Geldof has revealed she has adopted some of the parenting style of her famous mother and father but she won’t be emulating her dad’s frugal approach to her upbringing.

The 24-year-old, who has two boys under the age of two, revealed she will use similar approaches to raising her children as her late mother Paula Yates and Bob Geldof, but she wryly commented that she won’t follow his careful approach to the purse strings.

“When you have your own children you can either become like your parents in a positive or negative way or be a chain breaker and do the antithesis of what they did.

“With me it’s like I took some of their guides in how to parent my children but a lot of the things they did totally wrong and I’m correcting the mistakes.

“My father is a very frugal man. He has a lot of money but he never gave me a penny.”

Despite being a millionaire, she said Bob is positively thrifty even when it comes to food shopping.

“I’ll give you an anecdote. Tom and him went to the supermarket. Tom reaches for the normal bread and my Dad went mental and said ‘No Tom you can’t get that bread you have to get the almost past the sell-by date bread that goes off tomorrow’. I’m not kidding. In a cupboard at home there are literally tins of food from 1982. He will open a tin and eat it and be like ‘it’s still good Peaches I’m going to go for it’.

But she said she definitely took a leaf out of her parents’ book when it came to naming her children.

“[They are] 17 months and 7 months, Astala Dylan Willow and the other one of a slight weirder name because I like to push the boat out a bit being a Geldof and he is Phaedra Bloom Forever.”

She said her Dad tried to persuade her to call the baby the traditional Geldof name of Zenon before suggesting the moniker TomBob after her son’s father and famous grandfather.

“The family name is Zenon. The Geldof name that has been passed on. Robert Frederick Zenon Geldof is his whole name. He was pushing for me to have Zenon.

“My Dad said he wanted to call the baby TomBob after Tom and my Dad which obviously I turned down because TomBob is a terrible name.”
