The tapes include conversations between Heriberto Viramontes and his former girlfriend, the mother of his child, a court in Chicago heard yesterday.

Kira Lundgren, a 25-year-old mother-of-two, including Viramontes’ three-year-old son, agreed to testify against her former lover. She later received a reduced sentence on an unrelated criminal charge.

Lundgren was picked up from her apartment by Viramontes and his co-defendant, and star witness against him, Marcy Cruz, in the early hours of Apr 23, 2010, some time after McShane, 27, and Stacy Jurich were found beaten and seriously injured under a viaduct in the Bucktown area on the city’s northside.

Under cross-examination, Lundgren said she saw no blood on Viramontes or in the van. She was not asked to wash any clothes by Viramontes. Viramontes, 34, is charged with attempted murder and 23 charges, from misuse of a credit card to aggravated battery.
