€12.5k for Donal’s charity

A street collection in memory of inspirational teenager Donal Walsh during the Rose of Tralee Festival realised €12,500.

A cheque for that sum was presented yesterday to the Donal Walsh #Livelife Foundation.

The success of the Donal’s Day event, held last August, was described by his mother, Elma, as ‘’overwhelming’’.

The 16-year-old, from Tralee, died earlier this year from cancer, but his work to raise funds for cancer treatment and to create awareness of the suicide problem among young people continues.

His father, Fionnbar Walsh, paid tribute to everyone involved in the collection which was run with Tralee Rugby Club and Kerins O’Rahillys GAA Club, Tralee.
