Unfair dismissal claim ‘too late’

A former Youthreach worker has failed in his effort to bring a claim of unfair dismissal against the Cork Education and Training Board after an Employment Appeals Tribunal ruled his claim had been lodged too late.

Bev Cotton was formerly a Youthreach co-ordinator in Macroom, having begun work under the former County Cork VEC on Sept 1, 2005.

His employment ended on May 14, 2011, when he had taken early retirement on grounds of ill health, the tribunal heard.
