Doctors in new strike threat if talks fail

Junior doctors warn they will up the stakes and strike for two days as the war of words between the HSE and the Irish Medical Organisation over working hours continues.

The IMO believes there was strong public support for the doctors’ one-day strike in 51 hospitals around the country yesterday.

In the absence of a resolution of the dispute, it is likely the doctors will strike for up to two days next week.
