Senators may get six-digit payoffs

AS the days count down to a historic vote on changing our Constitution, most voters will be unaware that if senators are let go, so to speak, they are entitled to bumper pay offs.

The cost of closing the upper house has not been factored into debates on the yes or no sides.

Indeed, poring over the six-digit figures for many of the senators severance packages makes you wonder if members are secretly rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of termination pay.
