Adare village is set to continue as a major traffic snag on the Limerick/South West N21 route with confirmation that the National Roads Authority (NRA) has shot down a request by Limerick County Council to activate a third bypass plan.

The council previously drew up bypass plans in 2005 and 2009.

The first plan for a bypass to the north of the village was dropped due to the development by the NRA of a new road network between Limerick and Adare. And last year, the 2009 proposal for a bypass to the south of the village was rejected by An Bord Pleanála.
