South-east fetes plan to revive economy

The establishment of an IDA office and a full-time regional IDA director in Waterford City are among 10 priorities identified by an Oireachtas report launched yesterday that aims to tackle economic problems in the south-east.

Other goals include equal IDA investment with the Border-Midlands West region, the establishment of a technological university, and improvement of transport and broadband.

The south-east economic strategy was prepared by Sinn Féin senator David Cullinane on behalf of the all-party Oireachtas joint committee on jobs, enterprise, and innovation.
