Suspected cartel: DPP considers prosecutions

The DPP is considering whether prosecutions should be brought following a five-year investigation by the Competition Authority into a suspected cartel among electrical contractors.

The investigation includes the tender process carried out by the Office of Public Works during the hasty €19m redevelopment of the Garda College in Templemore.

The authority’s cartel investigators effectively closed their inquiry work in 2010 and sent a file to the director of public prosecutions recommending prosecution against a number of individuals.
