Terrified woman was escorted from home

At the height of Thursday night’s dramatic Bailieborough siege, a terrified resident had to be escorted from her home surrounded by gardaí carrying protective shields.

Jeweller Hubert Jennings was stopped getting back into the town centre by officers, who had closed down a large part of the area.

The 66-year-old was trying to reach his wife in their home next door to The Square Bar.
