15 businesses closed for food safety breaches
Closure Orders are served by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) where it is deemed “there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health at or in the premises”. The orders were issued by environmental health officers in the HSE.
Five closure orders were served under the FSAI Act, 1998 and were issued to:
- Deli Delicious take away, East End, Rathmore, Kerry;
- Akatshi Grill (food stall), Pier Car Park, Donegal Town;
- The Village Takeaway, Kill, Waterford;
- Makkah Halal Food (supermarket), 15 Naas Road, Clondalkin, Dublin;
- Pakway Distributors Ltd, Unit 29 Orion Business Park, Rosemount Business Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin.
Nine more closure orders were issued under the EC (Official Control of Foodstuffs) Regulations, 2010.
These included:
- The Meadow View Inn Dublin Road, Cavan;
- Riverside Restaurant, Main Street, Ballyheigue, Kerry;
- Village Kitchen (take away), Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe, Galway;
- O’Neills (delicatessen) 7 South Main Street, Wexford;
- Etchingham’s (public house), Main Street, Blackwater, Wexford;
- Ali Baba Turkish Kebab House (take away) Unit 1, Dominick Street, Drogheda in Louth;
- Lagoon Cafe, Pirates Cove, Courtown, Wexford;
- Oyster Bar (public house) Main Street, Dunfanaghy Donegal;
- Eurosaver (supermarket) (The handling and serving of soft ice-cream), 21-23 Main Street, Wexford.
Two prohibition orders were served under the FSAI legislation for the Steps of Rome (restaurant), Chat-ham Street, Dublin, and Pakway Distributors Ltd, Ballycoolin, Dublin
