Cork Opera House has begun repaying all of its loans after posting record profits.

Chairman of the company’s board of directors, Damian Wallace, confirmed last night that the first repayment due on the €1.25m loan extended by Cork City Council in 2010 was paid over in June.

The theatre has met all of its loan repayment obligations to the city council and to the banks since then, he said.
