Price war looms as Ryanair launch ‘aggressive’ campaign

Cash-strapped holidaymakers looking for a bargain getaway can expect a price war between the main airlines, with Ryanair set to launch an “aggressive” sales campaign in a bid to boost falling booking levels.

Price war looms as Ryanair launch ‘aggressive’ campaign

Aer Lingus is already in the middle of a price offer it has labelled “the sale of your dreams”, providing cheaper rates between October and March, so long as you book before next Wednesday. Yesterday Ryanair said it is rolling out “a range of lower fares and aggressive seat sales”, mainly on routes to and from Ireland, Britain, Spain, and Scandinavia.

A Ryanair spokesperson said the airline is offering seats from Ireland to Britain at €14.99 — half the price of Aer Lingus’s offering — and has flights to mainland Europe starting at €19.99.
