12,000 BoI mortgages are over 90 days in arrears

Bank of Ireland has revealed that almost 12,000 mortgage holders were in arrears for more than 90 days at the end of March.

However, chief executive, Richie Boucher, claimed it had easily met the Central Bank’s target of offering debt solutions to 20% of defaulting customers by the end of June.

Mr Boucher emphasised that 90% of the bank’s mortgage book was performing, although 11,774 accounts were in arrears.
