Man arrested over assault on garda

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a garda who required stitches following a search in Co Offaly last month.

The suspect, who was arrested in Ferbane, Co Offaly, yesterday morning, is being detained for questioning at Birr Garda Station.

He is being quizzed in relation to the attack on a garda who was set upon while investigating a suspicious vehicle in Ferbane on Saturday, Aug 24.
