A hurling helmet along with a model of a combine harvester and football boots were some of the offertory gifts presented at the requiem Mass of a popular 14-year-old who died after he fell from a tractor.

There were emotional scenes yesterday at the church in Glanworth, Co Cork, as family and friends gathered to pay their last respects to schoolboy Micheál “Haulie” Murphy.

He was travelling as a passenger in a tractor when he fell out of it at Knocknacullate, Killavullen, on Saturday evening.
