Oisín ‘treated like a celebrity’ on Canadian trip

The young boy who found an eight-year-old message in a bottle from the other side of the world after it washed up in his sleepy hometown said he was treated like a celebrity during a whirlwind trip to the note’s starting place.

Oisín Millea and his family opened up about the once-in-a-lifetime adventure after returning from a 12-day all-expenses paid journey to Québec, Canada, earlier this month.

The 10-year-old, from Passage East in Co Waterford, was taken on the trip by Tourisme Québec between Jul 11 and 23 as a thank you after the surprise find helped raise the tourism appeal of the region.
