Calm urged after shooting linked to feud

Community leaders have appealed for calm after a man was injured in a retaliation shooting linked to an ongoing feud between rival gangs on the northside of Cork City.

Gardaí believe the shooting may be linked to a row in the area earlier in the day between the gangs — which includes members of one family on one side and the members of two families on the other — and say they are pursuing several lines of enquiry.

And there were also reports the injured man may not have been the intended target.
