The organs of a garda who took his own life have been transplanted to five people, an inquest has heard.

The dead man, Adrian Hickey, 29, was a native of Blarney, Co Cork, had lived in Tralee since 2006 and served with the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit on plainclothes duty.

Garda witnesses told of arriving at 3.55am and finding Garda Hickey seated on the garden bench. A Garda Sig pistol lay on the ground. Blood was seen on the ground. He was taken to Kerry General Hospital but died the next day.
