Sherkin music festival in race against time

A Cork internet TV broadcaster is on a race against time to raise €12,000 in 12 days to host a novel island festival.

Sherkin music festival in race against time

Joanne Collins is using a Fund It charity page to sell tickets ahead of a summer music event on Sherkin Island.

She has 12 days to hit her target in an all-or-nothing bid to host a full camping festival and communal picnic featuring headline act Kila. “No money is taken from anyone’s account until the target is reached and July 12 is our target so it’s going to be hectic,” she said.

Collins, who runs Balcony TV, an online music show, spends her time interviewing musicians and bands from around the country. She wanted to mark the 25-year anniversary of one her favourite bands, Kila, by bringing them to West Cork.
