Motorist, 27, found dead after car struck ditch

A 27-year-old man died after his car hit a ditch adjacent to a junction of a main road in East Cork early yesterday.

The body of Diarmuid Fogarty from Lisglasheen, Killeagh, was discovered by a routine Garda car patrol on the outskirts of Youghal at 3.20am.

It was believed he had been driving his green Toyota Avensis north from Red Barn Strand when he hit the ditch at the junction of the main Cork-Youghal Road.
