115 school prefabs to be replaced with rooms

The 115 prefabs are due to be replaced during the coming school year as part of the €15m investment, which Education Minister Ruairi Quinn said will help to create about 360 direct and indirect jobs.

However, the spend will lead to annual savings of about €2m on rent paid for prefabs, in addition to €5m to be saved from a similar scheme last year that will eventually see 458 prefabs at 170 schools removed.
