Doctors struck off register

The High Court has confirmed two decisions of the Medical Council to remove Siad Zia, aged 40, and Chidozie Onovo, 43, from the register of doctors in Ireland.

Dr Zia, a German citizen who had an address in Ballincollig, Co Cork, was found to have lied in a job application for a registrar position in Sligo General Hospital in Sep 2008. Dr Onovo failed to disclose a drug-smuggling conviction in applications for jobs he held in Munster hospitals.
