Most opposition TDs intend supporting a motion of no confidence in Justice Minister Alan Shatter this week over his handling of the penalty points fall out and policies in recent months.

However, senior Government ministers look set to stand by the embattled Fine Gael minister.

Fianna Fáil will bring the motion today and Mr Shatter is expected to answer a number of queries in the Dáil either this evening or tomorrow.
