A Polish nanny who was paid €250 to mind a child, five days each week, yesterday confessed to stealing thousands of euro worth of jewellery and clothing from the family’s home

Ewelina Kubanska, aged 26, of Deerpark Avenue, Castlepark, Mallow, Co Cork, was working at the house in Chelmsford Village, Model Farm Road, Cork.

Solicitor Eddie Burke said Kubanska was pleading guilty yesterday to stealing the property between Mar 2010 and Oct 2012.

Inspector Michael McGuire said the charge sheet which referred to the theft of €10,570 worth of property.

Mr Burke said his client disputed the amount of property stolen and the amount recovered.

Due to the differences, Judge Olann Kelleher agreed to put sentencing back for a fortnight so he could hear evidence from Garda Shane Halligan who investigated the case.
