Elderly woman dies in blaze

A mother of six, aged in her 80s, has died following a house fire at Macroom, Co Cork.

Neighbours contacted emergency services yesterday morning after they saw a fire had broken out in the two-storey farmhouse at Kilavoultra on the outskirts of the town. The woman lived at the house with her son and daughter.

Fire services attended the scene but it was too late for Bina O’Connor and she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
