Camogie player, 10, dies before game

Emily Wilson, 10, collapsed while warming up for the match at the sports field in the Co Tipperary village of Gortnahoe.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and tried all means to save her including the use of the club defibrillator.

However, they were unable to revive her.

She was moved to South Tipperary General Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Last night, Emily’s parents Mick and Catriona were being comforted.

On Gortnahoe National School’s Facebook page a message last night read: “Sincere sympathy to all Emily’s family, our thoughts and prayers are with you.” On Gortnahoe Girls’ FC the message read: “Sincere sympathies are sent from all to the family of Emily Wilson. RIP.”
