A garda previously based in Killarney has pleaded guilty to two counts of defilement of a child.

The charges relate to a teenage boy and there was an order made yesterday by Judge Patrick J Moran preventing the identification of the injured party in media coverage of the case.

Damien Jermyn, aged 29, of 4 Main St, Bantry, Co Cork, was arraigned on the opening day of the county sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.
