The Irish Chess Union is to meet tonight to discuss a report on a violent end to a weekend tournament which saw a competitor accused of cheating after he was discovered in a toilet with a computer.

A 16-year-old was in the semi-final of the Cork congress last weekend when his frequent toilet breaks aroused the suspicions of his opponent.

The opponent, Gabriel Mirza, 47, from St Michael’s Club, Limerick, followed him to the toilet and said he found the Dublin schoolboy checking chess tools online.
