Early-evening tours to promote city to visitors

An initiative launched in Waterford will offer tourists and locals a chance to enjoy early-evening midweek tours of visitor attractions.

Early-evening tours to promote city to visitors

Experience Waterford is a tourism programme set up by the Waterford City Enterprise Board with a group of local businesses to offer “bundled” tourism packages from Monday to Thursday, between 5pm and 7pm.

Ten popular attractions across Waterford city and county are offering the tours and the initiative is supported and funded by the city enterprise board.

“A lot of anecdotal evidence suggested there is a hiatus on things to do between 5 and 7pm, midweek,” Waterford City Enterprise Board chief executive Ciaran Cullen said.

“So the participants of the group and the Enterprise Board created tourism packages to allow visitors the opportunity to discover more about Waterford, its people and its proud history and craft in the early evening.”

The tours include The Barley Bus, Roots ‘n’ Rowing, Kite and Coffee, The Suir Valley Railway Trail and Workhouse Wonders.

More details can be found at Experience Waterford 5-7 on Facebook.
