Often when couples are getting married, curious onlookers will gather outside the church to get a glimpse of the happy pair and pass judgement on the dresses of the bride and bridesmaids.

However, no matter how beautiful Denise Kelly looked as she tied the knot with new husband Greg Horan, she had to be resigned to the fact the crowds gathered outside St Michael’s Church in Westmeath were looking in One Direction — and it wasn’t at her but at the best man.

For the suited and booted singer who drove nervous brother Greg to the church in his top-of-the-range Range Rover was Niall Horan, one part of teenage boyband, One Direction.

The 19-year-old Mullingar native even came with a few wedding guests of his own: A camera crew and a number of bulky security guards.

As he drove towards the church, the singer was in performing mode, window down and singing exuberantly and waving to fans. Once out of the safe surrounds of the 4x4 though, he was whisked into the church for the ceremony.

The only problem was, he didn’t lock the car and one quick thinking fan managed to jump in for just long enough to get her picture taken in the driver’s seat.

In a move which probably gave his minders a few headaches, once the ceremony was over the best man escaped their clutches and made his way over to the fans who had been waiting patiently in the near-freezing conditions.

After signing autographs and posing for photographs he and the rest of the wedding party headed off to Leitrim’s Lough Rynn Castle Hotel for the reception.
