More disruptions for village due to road works delay

Hard-pressed rate payers in a north Cork village will have to suffer further disruption to their businesses due to major road works continuing longer than anticipated.

Many business owners in Castletownroche had complained that the closure of the N72 west of the village since September had resulted in their takings falling by an average of 40%.

While a significant amount of passing trade on the Fermoy-Mallow route has been lost due to detours, local trade has also suffered.
